Career Success

In just a few years, ZAFÈM has transformed the Haitian music landscape. Their debut album received widespread acclaim for combining traditional Compas with jazz, Afro-Caribbean, and world music influences while maintaining a distinctly Haitian identity. The group has sold out major concert venues in New York, Florida, Canada, France, and across the Caribbean, earning praise for their musical excellence and live performances.

Where Are They Now?

  • Develop new music while building on the success of LAS.
  • Promote Haitian culture through innovative musical collaborations and world-class live performances.

Today, ZAFÈM is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and commercially successful Compas bands of its generation. Through the leadership of Dener Céide and Reginald Cangé, the group continues to inspire audiences worldwide while helping introduce a new generation of listeners to the richness and artistry of Haitian music.

One important footnote: the name “ZAFÈM” became the subject of a federal trademark lawsuit (Wiss Joseph et al. v. Dener Ceide et al., E.D.N.Y.), brought by separate plaintiffs who own a registered mark for “Zafem World Entertainment” and alleged the band’s use of the name infringed their rights. That case saw a $1 million default judgment in 2025, which was later vacated after the band’s side appeared and contested it, and ultimately ended in a confidential settlement, with the case dismissed with prejudice in April 2026. The band appears to have continued performing and releasing music throughout the litigation.
