An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a unique code assigned to a specific sound recording (CD, audio file, video, etc.) performed by an artist or band. Essentially, it is a recording’s identification number and is used to track and verify specific information about a recording, including:
- Artist name
- Track title
- Album title
- Label name
- UPC
There should only ever be one ISRC assigned to a recording and it should never be reused for another recording.
Important
Make sure you use the same ISRC code anytime you re-release a track that has already been previously assigned an ISRC code. The exception to this rule is if the re-released track has been edited, remixed, remastered, or manipulated in any way. In the case for remixes, edits, remasters, etc, a new ISRC should be issued. Otherwise, always use the same ISRC if this particular version of the track has ever been released previously via any means, whether by a different distributor or on another single, compilation, mix or anywhere. This is important for publishing and tracking purposes.

We issue the UPC codes (Release Identifiers) needed for your official singles, album versions (CD, Download, Vinyl, or Tape), DVDs, and music videos.
Once you get your ISRC codes & UPC Codes from HMI Music Industry, you will be able to submit your recordings for sale or streaming on iTunes (Apple Music) & other online distributors of music, video, and spoken word recordings.
